Početak Drugog svetskog rata zaustavio je moto cirkus, nekoliko godina posle rata se čekalo da gorivo bude dostupno ponovo svima da bi se takmičenje nastavilo. U početku su Italijanski proizvođači dominirali u svim katergorijama, ali je to trajalo 17 godina. Posle toga dolazi do Japanske dominacije, Italijanski prozvođači nikad više nisu pobedili u generalnom plasmanu. U moderno doba tačnije 1997. godine na scenu stupa mladi italijanski vozač, Valentino Rosi koji se odmah pokazao kao veliki potencijal. Već tad postaje jasno da će njegovo ime zlatnim slovima ispisati istoriju motociklizma. Za to vreme imali smo samo jednu promenu kubikaže i to 2002. godine kada se sa 500 kubika prešlo na 990.
